Instituto del Progreso Latino Building Transformation
Chicago, Illinois
Instituto del Progreso Latino (Instituto) was incorporated in 1977 to
meet the needs of Latino immigrants to learn English, find employment,
accustom their children to the U.S. educational systems, and adjust to
life in Chicago. Since its inception, Instituto has been a story of hope, perseverance,
and community triumph.
For the last 15 years, they have been operating out of an old two story motel. With their continued growth a new, modern facility is needed to accommodate their needs.
The design proposes a building that will inspire the building users, while
welcoming the entire community. The existing structure will be altered
into a state of the art development that will meet Instituto's requirements
well into the future.
